   An act relating to health care.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1562, as introduced, Aanestad.  Telemedicine: incentives.
   Existing law defines telemedicine as the practice of health care
delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of medical
data, and education using interactive audio, video, or data
communications.  Under existing law, the definition of telemedicine
excludes either a telephone conversation or an electronic mail
message between a health care practitioner and patient.
   This bill would declare legislative intent to enact legislation to
create incentives for the practice of telemedicine, as defined.
   Vote:  majority.  Appropriation:  no.  Fiscal committee:  no.
State-mandated local program:  no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to create incentives for the practice of telemedicine, as
defined in Section 2290.5 of the Business and Professions Code.
