   An act to add Section 836 to the Government Code, relating to
school districts.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2684, as introduced, Liu.  School districts: liability.
   Existing law provides that every school district shall be under
the control of a governing board.  The Government Tort Liability Act
establishes the liability of a public entity for dangerous conditions
of public property, as specified.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to limit the
liability of a school district or the governing board of a school
district for claims of personal injury or wrongful death resulting
from the presence of toxic mold on school premises.
   Vote:  majority.  Appropriation:  no.  Fiscal committee:  no.
State-mandated local program:  no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  Section 836 is added to the Government Code, to read:
   836.  It is the intent of the Legislature to limit the liability
of a school district or the governing board of a school district for
claims of personal injury or wrongful death resulting from the
presence of toxic mold on school premises.
