LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 362, Corbett. Domestic Violence Prevention Act: definitions. Existing law, the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, authorizes the issuance of various protective orders for the prevention, or the prevention of the recurrence of, domestic violence. This bill would define the term "dating relationship," for the purposes of the act. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 6210 is added to the Family Code, to read: 6210. "Dating relationship" means frequent, intimate associations primarily characterized by the expectation of affection or sexual involvement independent of financial considerations.
