LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 311, Bill Campbell. California Highway Patrol officers: age limit. Existing law limits appointments of persons to the position of entry level peace officer of the Department of the California Highway Patrol to persons between the ages of 21 and 31 years. This bill would raise the maximum age at which a person may be appointed to the position of entry level peace officer to 35 years of age. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2256 of the Vehicle Code is amended to read: 2256. Notwithstanding Section 18932 of the Government Code, the minimum age limit for appointment to the position of entry level peace officer of the Department of the California Highway Patrol, shall be 21 years, and the maximum age limit for examination shall be 35 years.
