   An act to add Section 1012.6 to the Military and Veterans Code,
relating to veterans.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 781, Knight.  Veterans' homes.
   Existing law provides for the establishment and operation of the
Veterans' Home of California at various sites for aged and disabled
veterans who meet certain eligibility criteria.
   This bill would authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs to
accept and process applications from veterans who are seeking
residency at a home, beginning on the start date of construction of
that particular home.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  Section 1012.6 is added to the Military and Veterans
Code, to read:
   1012.6.  The department may accept and process applications from
veterans who are seeking residency at a home, beginning on the start
date of construction of that particular home.
