BILL NUMBER: AB 2206 CHAPTERED 09/20/02 CHAPTER 736 FILED WITH SECRETARY OF STATE SEPTEMBER 20, 2002 APPROVED BY GOVERNOR SEPTEMBER 20, 2002 PASSED THE SENATE AUGUST 27, 2002 PASSED THE ASSEMBLY MAY 29, 2002 AMENDED IN ASSEMBLY APRIL 8, 2002 INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Salinas FEBRUARY 20, 2002 An act to add Section 99315.95 to the Public Utilities Code, relating to transportation, and making an appropriation therefor. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2206, Salinas. Transportation: rail service. Existing law prescribes the allocation of funds from the Public Transportation Account and the State Highway Account, both in the State Transportation Fund. This bill would require that funds previously allocated to the City of Seaside for the Fort Ord rail station right-of-way acquisition could also be used by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County for work at the Monterey Bay rail station and would require the commission to oversee the timely use of these funds in accordance with the requirements specified in current law. By expanding the use of the funds originally authorized for expenditure for the Fort Ord rail station, the bill would make an appropriation. Appropriation: yes. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 99315.95 is added to the Public Utilities Code, to read: 99315.95. All funds from the Public Transportation Account and the State Highway Account, in the State Transportation Fund, previously allocated by the California Transportation Commission to the City of Seaside for the acquisition of right-of-way for the Fort Ord rail station shall also be available for expenditure by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County for work at the Monterey Bay rail station. The commission shall oversee the timely use of these funds in accordance with the requirements specified in current law.
