LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 613, Alarcon. Medi-Cal: notifications to managed care plans. Existing law provides for the Medi-Cal program, administered by the State Department of Health Services, under which qualified low-income persons are provided with health care services. This bill would require the department to notify a Medi-Cal managed care plan of the date of the annual redetermination of a Medi-Cal beneficiary, who is in a disabled aid category and whose redetermination is the responsibility of the department. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 14018.1 is added to the Welfare and Institutions Code, to read: 14018.1. The department shall prospectively notify a Medi-Cal managed care plan of the date of the regularly scheduled annual redetermination of a Medi-Cal beneficiary in a disabled aid category, who is enrolled in that plan and where eligibility redetermination is the responsibility of the department. Nothing in this section shall provide a beneficiary with additional Medi-Cal coverage due to the department's failure to provide this notice.
