BILL NUMBER: SB 834 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Figueroa FEBRUARY 22, 2005 An act relating to state government. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 834, as introduced, Figueroa. State government reorganization: California Performance Review. Executive Order S-5-04 created the California Performance Review to conduct a focused examination of state government. That executive order required the performance review to formulate and recommend practical changes to government agencies, programs, and operations to reduce total costs of government operations, increase productivity, improve services, and make government more responsive and accountable to the public. This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to reorganize and improve the performance of state government based, in part, on recommendations contained in the report by the California Performance Review. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to reorganize and improve the performance of state government based, in part, on recommendations contained in the report by the California Performance Review.
