           SUMMARY  

          This bill designates, as the "Marvin Braude Bikeway," the  
          22-mile beach bicycle path in Los Angeles County.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor costs to place appropriate signs along the beach bicycle  
          path.  These costs are funded by agreements made by appropriate  
          local governments and private sources.

           COMMENTS  

           1)Rationale  .  This bill honors Marvin Braude, a Los Angeles City  
            Councilmember from 1965 to 1997 who, among other  
            accomplishments, spearheaded efforts in the early 1970s to  
            establish a bike path along the beaches and other coastal  
            areas of western Los Angeles County.

           2)The Beach Bicycle Path  runs from Will Rogers State Beach in  
            Santa Monica, along Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and  
            Redondo Beach and terminates at Torrance County Beach.
