LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1241, Cox Deputy sheriffs: state citizenship. Existing law establishes various requirements for eligibility to be a deputy sheriff or deputy marshal. One requirement is that a person shall not be appointed deputy sheriff or deputy marshal unless he or she is a citizen of this state. This bill would repeal that requirement. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 24103 of the Government Code is repealed.
