LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 1423, Bogh Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Under existing law, the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in the Resources Agency is responsible for, among other things, providing fire protection, fire prevention, forest and range protection, and enhancement implements and apparatus as necessary. This bill would, on and after January 1, 2007, permit reference to the department, where appropriate and as determined by the Director of Forestry and Fire Protection, as CAL-FIRE. The bill would also prohibit any supplies, forms, insignias, signs, or logos from being destroyed or changed as a result of the reference authorization and would require that they continue to be used until exhausted or unserviceable. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 701.6 is added to the Public Resources Code, to read: 701.6. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, on and after January 1, 2007, the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection may be referred to, where appropriate and as determined by the director, as CAL-FIRE. (b) No existing supplies, forms, insignias, signs, or logos shall be destroyed or changed as a result of the authorization to use CAL-FIRE where appropriate to refer to the department, and they shall continue to be used until exhausted or unserviceable.
