	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 139, Bass. Vehicles: schoolbus drivers: medical examinations.
Existing law requires an applicant for an original or renewal
certificate to drive a schoolbus, school pupil activity bus, youth
bus, general public paratransit vehicle, or farm labor vehicle to
submit to the Department of Motor Vehicles a report of a medical
physician's examination of the applicant given not more than 2 years
prior to the application date.
This bill would authorize the medical examination to be given by a
licensed advanced practice registered nurse qualified to perform a
medical examination, or a licensed physician assistant.

licensed to practice medicine, a licensed advanced practice

by the department, the Federal Highway Administration, or the Federal
