   An act relating to pupil assessment.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 347, as introduced, Nava. Pupil assessment: high school exit
examination.
   Existing law requires each pupil completing grade 12 to
successfully pass the high school exit examination as a condition of
receiving a diploma of graduation or a condition of graduation from
high school.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to ensure
that pupils who have not passed the high school exit examination by
the end of grade 12 are provided additional assistance to prepare for
and pass the exit examination.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to ensure that
pupils who have not passed the California High School Exit
Examination by the end of grade 12 are provided additional assistance
to prepare for and pass the high school exit examination.
