   An act to amend Section 14006.5 of the Welfare and Institutions
Code, relating to Medi-Cal.

   AB 1328, as introduced, Hayashi. Medi-Cal: eligibility for
benefits.
   Existing law establishes the Medi-Cal program, administered by the
State Department of Health Care Services, under which basic health
care services are provided to qualified low-income persons. Existing
law requires the department to include training regarding the
treatment of separate and community income and resources in
determining eligibility for Medi-Cal benefits, as part of the ongoing
training offered to county welfare departments.
   This bill would also require the department, as part of that
ongoing training, to include information regarding the treatment of
separate and community income and resources in determining
eligibility.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 14006.5 of the Welfare and Institutions Code is
amended to read:
   14006.5.  The department shall include  information and 
training regarding the treatment of separate and community income and
resources in determining eligibility for Medi-Cal benefits, as part
of the ongoing training offered to county welfare departments.
