An act relating to child care.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 2453, as introduced, Salas. Child care: family child care
providers.
Existing law, the Child Care Development Services Act, establishes
various full- and part-time programs for a comprehensive,
coordinated, and cost-effective system of developmental services for
children up to 13 years of age and their parents. Existing law
requires a person who serves in an instructional capacity in a child
care and development program to have 12 units in early childhood
education or childhood development, or 2 years' experience in early
childhood education or a child care development program.
This bill would express the Legislature's intent to enact
legislation that would require family child care providers to take
early childhood education training.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require family child care providers to take
early childhood education training.
