LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2840, Berg. Humboldt County: South Spit. Existing law creates the Department of Fish and Game, within the Resources Agency, and by and through the department the fish and wildlife resources of the state are held in trust for the people of the state. This bill would name certain specified portions of the South Spit in Humboldt County the Mike Thompson Wildlife Area, South Spit Humboldt Bay, upon the completion of Representative Thompson's legislative service. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. (a) That portion of the South Spit in Humboldt County that consists of parcel nos. 308-031-001, 308-021-001, 308-012-001, 308-012-002, 308-011-001, 308-011-002, 305-191-001, and 305-191-002 shall be named the Mike Thompson Wildlife Area, South Spit Humboldt Bay. (b) This section shall become operative only upon Representative Mike Thompson's completion of his legislative service. (c) The costs of the signage shall be funded by the parties who request the state to erect that signage pursuant to this section.
