                             ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON RULES
                                 Ted W. Lieu, Chair
                 ACR 17 (Saldana) - As Introduced: February 2, 2009

SUBJECT : American Heart Month and Wear Red Day

SUMMARY : Recognizes the month of February 2009 as American
Heart Month in California, recognizes February 6, 2009, as Wear
Red Day in California, and urges public support for Go Red for
Women events. Specifically, this resolution makes the following
          legislative findings:

1)More women die of cardiovascular disease than the next five
leading causes of death combined, including all cancers; and
only 21 percent of women perceive heart disease as their
            greatest risk.

2)The American Heart Association strives to inform all citizens
about the critical importance of tools and skills that will
increase the survival rate of men and women from heart disease
            and stroke.

3)February is designated as American Heart Month; and Go Red for
Women is the American Heart Association's national call to
increase awareness of heart disease and to inspire women to
take charge of their heart health.
