Relative to Sonoma Wine Country Weekend.

ACR 86, Huffman. Sonoma Wine Country Weekend.
This measure would proclaim the weekend of September 4 through 6,
2009, as Sonoma Wine Country Weekend and would extend the Legislature'
s support to this celebration of California grape growing and
winemaking heritage.
WHEREAS, California's unparalleled viticulture is of great
historical significance, dating back to the 18th century and the
growing of sacramental wine at California's historic missions; and
WHEREAS, This grape growing and winemaking heritage is also
economically significant, providing billions of dollars to the local
economy each year; and
WHEREAS, Sonoma County and, specifically, Sonoma Valley have
played a key role in the development of California wine; and
WHEREAS, Sonoma Wine Country Weekend celebrates California's
historic place as a grape growing region and wine producer; and
WHEREAS, The Sangiacomo family, Honorary Chair for the 2009 Sonoma
Wine Country Weekend, is an icon of Californian viticulture, having
become one of the most coveted vineyard names; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
thereof concurring, That the Legislature proclaims the weekend of
September 4 through 6, 2009, as Sonoma Wine Country Weekend and
extends its support to this celebration of California grape growing
and winemaking heritage; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of
this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
