impending rehabilitation of the boat ramp so long as the
new signs do not increase project costs.
ANALYSIS : In 1949, John F. Reginato became General

appreciation for the important role of public lands in
north state tourism.
In 1962, Mr. Reginato was appointed to the federal Bureau
of Land Management's statewide advisory board, a

ARGUMENTS IN SUPPORT : According to the author's office,
the intent of this resolution is to honor John Franklin
Reginato. John Franklin Reginato served as General Manager
of the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland Association, which
promotes tourism and recreation in the far northern
counties, for 41 years beginning in 1949. In this
capacity, he tirelessly promoted the natural beauty and
abundant recreational opportunities in the area and is
credited with introducing houseboating to the west.
Convinced that houseboats would lure tourists, he talked
the owners of Lake Shasta's first marina into buying two
barges in the early 1950s. Today, Shasta Lake bills itself
as the "house boating capital of the world" with more than
450 available for rent.
