   An act to amend Section 51873 of the Education Code, relating to
education technology.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 607, as introduced, Villines. Education technology: grants.
   The California Technology Assistance Project is administered by
the State Department of Education to provide a regionalized network
of technical assistance to schools and school districts on the
implementation of education technology. Existing law authorizes
school districts, county offices of education, and state special
schools to apply to the State Board of Education to participate in
grant programs related to education technology, as specified.
   This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to those
provisions.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 51873 of the Education Code is amended to read:

   51873.  School districts, county offices of education, and state
special schools may apply to the  State Board of Education
  state board  to participate in grant programs
related to education technology, including, but not limited to,
professional development, research and development, and evaluation
and dissemination of education technology resources.
