SUMMARY : Deletes the requirement that the license expiration date appear on engineering plans or on land surveying documents; revises references to "registered" engineers to refer instead to "licensed" engineers; makes technical and conforming changes. The Senate amendments delete the Assembly version of this bill, and instead delete the requirement that the license expiration date appear on engineering plans or on land surveying documents; revise references to "registered" engineers to refer instead to "licensed" engineers; and, make technical and conforming changes. EXISTING LAW : 1)Provides for the licensure and regulation of professional engineers and land surveyors by the Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (Board) and requires licenses issued by the Board to be renewed every two years. 2)Authorizes the Board to fix license application fees, up to specified amounts, and provides for other related fees, the amounts of which are based on the amount of the application fees. AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill extended the licensure renewal period for professional engineers and land surveyors and doubled the maximum amounts of the license application fees. FISCAL EFFECT : According to the Senate Appropriations Committee, pursuant to Senate Rule 28.8, negligible state costs. COMMENTS : This bill was gutted and amended in the Senate. Despite being rewritten, this bill continues to address the same issue as the Assembly-approved version of the bill.
