THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2231 of the Streets and Highways Code is amended to read: 2231. TheFederal Aid Highway Act of 1973federal government has authorized appropriations for expenditure within urbanized areas for comprehensive transportation planning purposes. The purpose of this chapter is to implementsuchthis program in this state. The commission, the department, appropriate regional and local planning agencies, boards of supervisors, and city councils are authorized to do all things necessary in their respective jurisdictions to securesuchthese federal funds in accordance with the intent ofthefederalactlaw andofthis chapter.
