SUMMARY
This bill changes the name of the Board of Professional
Engineers and Land Surveyors (BPELS) to the Board of
Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Geologists and
Geophysicists, and increases the number of board members from 13
to 14.
FISCAL EFFECT
Minor costs of less than $20,000 per year (Professional
Engineers and Land Surveyors Fund).
COMMENTS
Purpose . This bill provides technical clean up to AB4X 20
(Strickland; Chapter 18, Statutes of 2009). One provision of
AB4X 20 consolidated the Board for Geologists and Geophysicists
with the BPELS. The bill transferred all of the roles and
responsibilities of the Board for Geologists and Geophysicists
to BPELS. AB 4X 20 however, did not change the title BPELS to
reflect their new role and responsibilities, nor did it include
a licensed geologist or geophysicist on the Board now overseeing
geologist and geophysicists. This legislation updates the name
and expands membership to include one licensed geologist or
geophysicist.
