SUMMARY : Establishes the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission (Commission) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ronald Reagan, as specified. The Senate amendments : 1)Sunset the provisions of this bill on January 1, 2012. 2)Add an urgency clause. 3)Make technical changes. EXISTING LAW provides for the establishment of various commissions within state government. AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill is substantially similar to the version approved by the Senate. FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown. This bill is keyed non-fiscal. COMMENTS : According to the author's office, "AB 1911 creates the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission which will be tasked with developing appropriate means to honor and promote the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth. Born in 1911, Ronald Reagan is the only person to have served as both the Governor of California and the President of the United States. Having been one of the most influential Californians in history, Ronald Reagan deserves special recognition for his service."
