           SUMMARY  :  Requires marriage and family therapists (MFTs),  
          licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), psychologists, and  
          licensed professional counselors (PCCs) to have training on the  
          recognition and reporting of suspected elder and dependent adult  
          abuse as requirements for licensure.  

           The Senate amendments  :

          1)Include PCCs to the list of professions included under the  
            training and coursework provisions for elder and dependent  
            adult abuse assessment and reporting under this bill.

          2)Delete the January 1, 2012 commencement date related to  
            instruction on the assessment and reporting of elder and  
            dependent adult abuse and neglect, as specified.

          3)Incorporate language to avoid chaptering issues with SB 1489  
            (Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee).

          4)Make technical and clarifying changes.
           
          EXISTING LAW  provides for the licensure and regulation of  
          psychologists, PCCs, LCSWs and MFTs and establishes specified  
          coursework requirements, including child abuse assessment and  
          reporting.

           AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY  , this bill was substantially similar  
          to the version approved by the Senate.
           
          FISCAL EFFECT  :  According to the Senate Appropriations  
          Committee, pursuant to Senate Rule 28.8, negligible state costs.
