ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON UTILITIES AND COMMERCE
                               Steven Bradford, Chair
AB 2769 (Committee on Utilities and Commerce) - As Introduced:
                                  February 25, 2010

SUBJECT : Public Utilities Commission: President.

SUMMARY : Combines two disparate code sections that relate to
requirement that the president of the California Public
Utilities Commission (CPUC) appear before the Legislature to
report on the annual work plan, and the requirement that the
CPUC develop the annual work plan.

           FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown.

COMMENTS : This bill is intended to make minor technical
changes to coordinate two disparate code sections. Public
Utilities Code section 321.6 requires the CPUC to develop a work
plan that describes the scheduled ratemaking proceedings and
other decisions that may be considered by the CPUC during the
calendar year. Public Utilities Code section 1701.6 requires
the president of the CPUC to annually appear before the
appropriate policy committees of the Senate and Assembly to
report on the annual work plan. This bill places the
requirement that the president report the work plan to both
policy committees of the Legislature, in the same code section
as the requirement to perform the annual work plan.

All of the provisions in this bill are non-substantive and
without opposition. In addition, the relevant regulatory agency
has been consulted and has expressed no concern.

As the code cleanup bill, the bill does not and will not contain
any section to which any party objects.
