	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 549, as introduced, Correa. Barbering and cosmetology:
out-of-state applicants.
Existing law, the Barbering and Cosmetology Act, provides for the
licensure and regulation of the practice of barbering and cosmetology
by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Existing law requires the
board to grant a license to practice if the applicant submits, among
other things, a completed application and proof of a current
specified license to practice issued by another state.
This bill would clarify that the board has the authority to grant
a license to an applicant licensed in another state.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
