   An act to amend Section 17962 of the Health and Safety Code,
relating to fire protection services.

   SB 583, as introduced, Hollingsworth. Fire protection services.
   Existing law requires the chief of a city or county fire
department or district providing fire protection services to enforce,
in his or her respective areas, state requirements for buildings
used for human habitation and building standards published in the
State Building Standards Code relating to fire and panic safety, and
other rules and regulations pertaining to fire prevention, fire
protection, the control of the spread of fire, and safety from fire
or panic.
   This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 17962 of the Health and Safety Code is amended
to read:
   17962.  The chief of  any   a  city or
 any   a  county fire department or
district providing fire protection services, and their authorized
representatives, shall enforce  ,  in their respective areas
 ,  all those provisions of this part, the building
standards published in the State Building Standards Code relating to
fire and panic safety, and those rules and regulations promulgated
pursuant to the provisions of this part pertaining to fire
prevention, fire protection, the control of the spread of fire, and
safety from fire or panic.
