    An act relating to education.   An act to
add Section 712 to the Military and Veterans Code, relating to
veterans. 



	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1127, as amended, Oropeza.  Education.  
Veterans: military-to-civilian life transition: information to family
members.  
   Existing law establishes the Department of Veterans' Affairs
within state government and sets forth its powers and duties,
including, but not limited to, administration of veterans benefits
programs.  
   This bill would require the department to make information
available to family members of veterans returning from active duty
that will help family members facilitate the transition from military
to civilian life.  
   Existing law establishes the State Board of Education in state
government, and, among other things, requires the state board to make
plans for the improvement of the administration and efficiency of
the public schools of the state.  
   This bill would express the Legislature's intent to enact
legislation relating to public education.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   SECTION 1.    Section 712 is added to the  
Military and Veterans Code   , to read:  
   712.  The Department of Veterans Affairs shall make information
available to family members of veterans returning from active duty
that will help family members facilitate the transition from military
to civilian life.  
  SECTION 1.    It is the intent of the Legislature
to enact legislation relating to public education.
