   Relative to the Armenian Cathedral Complex.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   ACR 1, as introduced, Gatto. Armenian Cathedral Complex.
   This measure would request that the Department of Transportation
erect informational signs on State Highway Route 5 in the County of
Los Angeles directing motorists to the Armenian Cathedral Complex,
consistent with the signing requirements for the state highway system
and upon receiving donations from nonstate sources sufficient to
cover the cost to erect those signs.
   Fiscal committee: yes.



   WHEREAS, The new Armenian Cathedral Complex will soon serve as a
significant cultural and educational center in the Los Angeles area;
and
   WHEREAS, The Armenian Cathedral Complex will serve as the
headquarters of the Armenian Apostolic Church for all parishes west
of the Mississippi and is expected to attract motorists and tourists
from all over the world; and
   WHEREAS, Signage to the Armenian Cathedral Complex would provide
motorists with adequate and timely information to ensure safe arrival
at their destination; now, therefore, be it
   Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
thereof concurring, That the Legislature recognizes the importance of
the Armenian Cathedral Complex to the people of California and
requests that the Department of Transportation erect informational
signs on the northbound portion of State Highway Route 5 leading to
the Buena Vista exit and the southbound portion of State Highway
Route 5 leading to the Hollywood Way exit, in the County of Los
Angeles, directing motorists to the Armenian Cathedral Complex,
consistent with the signing requirements for the state highway system
and upon receiving donations from nonstate sources sufficient to
cover the cost to erect those signs; and be it further
   Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of
this resolution to the Department of Transportation and to the author
for appropriate distribution.
