SUMMARY : Designates Monday, January 17, 2011, be observed as
the official memorial of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s
birth; commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the work of Dr.

changing public policy in California and in the United States of
America; and encourages and recognizes the value of community
service and volunteerism. Specifically, this resolution makes
the following legislative findings:

human rights; and these public policy changes influenced many
changes in California public policy.
