As proposed to be amended: RN 1107648
SUBJECT : American Heart Month and Wear Red Day.
SUMMARY : Recognizes the month of February 2011 as American
Heart Month in California, and February 4, 2011, as Wear Red Day
in California in order to raise awareness of the importance of
the ongoing fight against heart disease and stroke; and urges
public support for Go Red for Women events. Specifically, this
resolution makes the following legislative findings:
1.February is designated as American Heart Month; and Wear Red
Day is recognized nationwide each year to highlight the Go Red
for Women campaign.
2.Diseases of the heart are the nation's leading cause of death;
and nearly as many women die of cardiovascular diseases than
the next four leading cause of death combined, including all
cancers.
3.Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national
call to increase awareness about heart disease and to inspire
women to take charge of their heart health.
FISCAL EFFECT : None
COMMENTS : The proposed amendments make grammatical
corrections.
