Specifically, this resolution makes the following legislative findings: 1)Every person deserves the basic principles of equality and civil rights guaranteed to all persons by the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and, it is the right of every person to live with the expectation that he or she will not be physically, emotionally, or psychologically abused or intimidated. 2)Hatred and bigotry remain significant and dangerous problems in the United States and in California; and, the State of California can move toward the goal of eliminating hate by enacting the Anti-Defamation League's No Place for Hate (registered trademark) program. 3)The No Place for Hate (registered trademark) program enables people to challenge anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia, and all forms of bigotry in their communities; and, this program seeks to provide a model for responding to and preventing acts of hatred by providing resources and education to California school districts.
