ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON RULES
Nancy Skinner, Chair
ACR 132 (John A. Pérez) - As Amended: March 27, 2012
SUBJECT : Donate life California Day: driver's license
SUMMARY : Proclaims April 18, 2012, as DMV/Donate Life
California Day and April 2012 as DMV/Donate Life California
Month in California; encourages all Californians to register
with the Donate Life California Registry when applying for
renewing a driver's license or identification card or by signing
up at www.donateLIFEcalifornia.org or
www.doneVIDACalifornia.org . Specifically, this resolution
makes the following legislative findings:
1)A single individual's donation of heart, lungs, liver,
kidneys, pancreas, and small intestine can save up to eight
lives. The donation of tissue can save and enhance the lives
of up to 50 others; and, a single blood donation can help
three people in need.
2)Californians by the millions are joining together to save and
enhance lives by becoming registered donors; and, California
residents can register with the Donate Life California
Registry when applying for or renewing a driver's license or
identification card at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
3)Organ, tissue, eye, and blood donation are compassionate and
life-giving acts; and, thousands of patients die each year
while waiting for a transplant due to a shortage of donated
organs.
