AB 473, as introduced, Charles Calderon. Unfair competition.
Existing law defines unfair competition and makes unlawful
specified business practices intended to injure competitors or
destroy competition. Existing law specifies criminal penalties and
civil remedies for violations, including injunctive relief and
damages.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would add provisions to the Business and Professions
Code making it an act of unfair competition to sell or offer for
sale in this state a product that is manufactured by a person using
stolen or misappropriated information technology in its business
operations, where the product is sold or offered for sale in this
state in competition with a product that is manufactured without the
use of that stolen or misappropriated information technology.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would add provisions to the Business and Professions
Code making it an act of unfair competition to sell or offer for
sale in this state a product that is manufactured by a person using
stolen or misappropriated information technology in its business
operations, where the product is sold or offered for sale in this
state in competition with a product that is manufactured without the
use of that stolen or misappropriated information technology.
