An act to add Section 20 to the Military and Veterans Code,
relating to veterans.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 635, as introduced, Knight. Veterans' benefits: public
postsecondary education: mandatory educational fees.
Existing law establishes the 3 segments of public postsecondary
education in this state. These segments include the California State
University, which is administered by the Trustees of the California
State University, the University of California, which is administered
by the Regents of the University of California, and the California
Community Colleges, which is administered by the Board of Governors
of the California Community Colleges.
This bill would specify that, for purposes of veterans' benefits,
the Trustees of the California State University, the Regents of the
University of California, and the Board of Governors of the
California Community Colleges may designate mandatory education fees
as tuition.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 20 is added to the Military and Veterans Code,
to read:
20. For the purposes of veterans' benefits, the Trustees of the
California State University, the Regents of the University of
California, and the Board of Governors of the California Community
Colleges may designate mandatory educational fees as tuition.
