   An act relating to pupil instruction.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 790, as introduced, Furutani. Pupil instruction: linked
learning.
   Existing law establishes the system of public elementary and
secondary schools in this state, and provides for the establishment
of the local educational agencies, including school districts, that
establish and operate the schools and provide instruction to pupils
throughout the state.
   This bill would express a finding and declaration of the
Legislature relating to the educational approach known as linked
learning, and would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would help expand and enhance the delivery of linked
learning in California's public elementary and secondary schools.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  The Legislature finds and declares that linked learning
is an educational approach that makes learning exciting and
challenging by connecting academic study with real-world experience
in a wide range of fields. It is the intent of the Legislature to
enact legislation that would help expand and enhance the delivery of
linked learning in California's public elementary and secondary
schools.
