Purpose of this bill . According to the author's office,
"Currently, the level of participation of business enterprises
by race, gender, and ethnicity of a contractor is collected by
DGS and annually reported. AB 1960 would add LGBT-owned

Support . According to the American Federation of State, County
and Municipal Employees, "This bill represents a small, but
crucial step toward breaking down discriminatory barriers that
marginalize a key segment of our population. LGBT-owned
businesses are a crucial part of our economy, and AB 1960 would
help provide recognition for this invaluable role. This bill
does not significantly change any laws, but instead adds an
integral part of the California economy and community to the
          existing reporting requirements."
