   An act to add Section 66025.7 to the Education Code, relating to
public postsecondary education.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2462, Block. Public postsecondary education: academic credit
for prior military academic experience.
   Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges, the
California State University, and the University of California as the
3 segments of public postsecondary education in this state. The
Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, the Chancellor of
the California State University, and the President of the University
of California serve as the respective chief executive officers of
these 3 segments.
   This bill would require the Chancellor of the California Community
Colleges to determine by July 1, 2015, for which courses credit
should be awarded for prior military experience, as specified.



THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 66025.7 is added to the Education Code, to
read:
   66025.7.  By July 1, 2015, the Chancellor of the California
Community Colleges, using common course descriptors and pertinent
recommendations of the American Council on Education, shall determine
for which courses credit should be awarded for prior military
experience.
