	BILL TEXT

INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Bill Berryhill

                        FEBRUARY 24, 2012

An act to amend Section 7106.5 of the Business and Professions
Code, relating to professions and vocations.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 2554, as introduced, Bill Berryhill. Contractors.
Existing law, the Contractors' State License Law, provides for the
licensure and regulation of contractors by the Contractors' State
License Board. The registrar of contractors is the executive officer
and secretary of the board and is required to carry out specified
administrative duties. Under existing law, the expiration,
cancellation, forfeiture, suspension, or voluntary surrender of a
license does not deprive the registrar of jurisdiction to proceed
with, among other things, any investigation or disciplinary
proceeding against the license.
This bill would additionally specify that revocation of a license
does not deprive the board of that jurisdiction.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 7106.5 of the Business and Professions Code is
amended to read:
   7106.5. The expiration, cancellation, forfeiture,
revocation, or suspension of a license by operation of law or
by order or decision of the registrar or a court of law, or the
voluntary surrender of a license by a licensee , shall not
deprive the registrar of jurisdiction to proceed with any
investigation of or action or disciplinary proceeding against the
license, or to render a decision suspending or revoking the license.
