BILL NUMBER: AB 2602 INTRODUCED
BILL TEXT
INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Furutani
FEBRUARY 24, 2012
An act to amend Section 3553 of the Unemployment Insurance Code,
relating to unemployment insurance.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 2602, as introduced, Furutani. Unemployment insurance: filing:
extended duration benefits.
Existing law provides that the filing of a valid primary claim by
an exhaustee constitutes an election to claim extended duration
benefits, excluding the exhaustee from filing a new claim for normal
benefits for any week of unemployment subsequent to the filing of the
primary claim for which extended duration benefits are payable to
the exhaustee.
This bill would make nonsubstantive, technical changes to those
provisions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 3553 of the Unemployment Insurance Code is
amended to read:
3553. The filing of a valid primary claim by an exhaustee shall
constitute an election by him or her to claim extended
duration benefits to the exclusion of filing a new claim for normal
benefits for any week of unemployment subsequent to the filing of
such that primary claim for which
extended duration benefits are payable to him or her .
