An act to add Section 56049 to the Education Code, relating to
special education.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
SB 121, as introduced, Liu. Special education: incarcerated
minors.
Existing law requires every individual with exceptional needs who
is eligible to receive special education instruction and related
services, as specified, to receive that instruction and those
services at no cost to his or her parents or, as appropriate, to him
or her.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to improve
special education services for incarcerated minors.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 56049 is added to the Education Code, to read:
56049. It is the intent of the Legislature to improve special
education services for incarcerated minors.
