   An act relating to greenhouse gas reduction.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 669, as introduced, Rubio. Greenhouse gas reduction: carbon
sequestration.
   The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 requires the
State Air Resources Board to identify opportunities for greenhouse
gas emission reduction measures, including carbon sequestration.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation establishing a regulatory framework for the permitting
and operation of carbon capture and geologic storage projects.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation establishing a regulatory framework for the permitting
and operation of carbon capture and geologic storage projects.
