An act to amend Section 1173 of the Military and Veterans Code,
relating to veterans.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
SB 811, as introduced, Committee on Veterans Affairs. Veterans:
memorial districts: buildings.
Existing law authorizes the establishment of memorial districts
with specified powers and duties relating to veterans' buildings.
Existing law authorizes registered electors residing within a
proposed district to propose the formation of a district, as
provided.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the
provision authorizing registered electors to propose the formation of
a district.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 1173 of the Military and Veterans Code is
amended to read:
1173. By petition filed with the county clerk, registered
electors residing within the boundaries of a proposed district, equal
in number to at least eight per cent percent
of the number of votes cast in the proposed district for the
office of Governor at the last general election at which a
Governor govern or was elected, may
propose the formation of a district. If both incorporated and
unincorporated territory are included within the proposed district,
the petition shall be signed by registered electors equal in number
in each territory to at least eight per cent
percent of the votes so cast therein for Governor.
