   An act relating to sex offenses.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 916, as introduced, Negrete McLeod. Sex offenses: sexting.
   Under existing law, it is a felony for a person to knowingly
possess or control any matter, representation of information, data,
or image that involves the use of a person under 18 years of age
personally engaging in or simulating sexual conduct, as defined.
   This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to address the activity commonly referred to as "sexting"
as it pertains to minors.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to address the activity commonly referred to as "sexting"
as it pertains to minors.
