   An act to amend Section 11000 of the Government Code, relating to
state government.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1287, as introduced, Harman. State government.
   Existing law provides within state government in the executive
department, state departments and state agencies, as defined.
Existing law sets forth the powers and duties of state departments
and state agencies.
   This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to a
related provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 11000 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
   11000.  (a) As used in this title, "state agency" includes every
state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and
commission. As used in any section of this title that is added or
amended effective on or after January 1, 1997, "state agency" does
not include the California State University  ,  unless the
section explicitly provides that  it   the
section  applies to the university.
   (b) References to particular state agencies in this title, without
further identification, such as to the "Treasurer" or "Department of
General Services," are references to the state officer or agency
known by that name.
