SB 1288 (Harman) - As Amended: June 15, 2012
Policy Committee: Water, Parks and
Wildlife Vote: 13-0
Urgency: No State Mandated Local Program:
No Reimbursable: No
SUMMARY
This bill adds to the list of persons eligible to receive a
reduced-fee hunting license
a recovering service member who provides to DFG a letter from
his or her commanding officer or a military medical doctor
stating the person's status as a recovering service member.
FISCAL EFFECT
Potential negligible revenue loss to DFG from the small number
of recovering service members who would buy full-price hunting
licenses, absent this bill (special fund).
COMMENTS
The author contends it appropriate to facilitate recovering
service members participation in recreational activities, such
as hunting, that can promote physical and mental healing. The
author notes that current law makes disabled veterans eligible
for discounted hunting licenses.
