           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as the "Detective Gerald 'Blackie'  
          Sawyer Memorial Highway," the portion of State Route 39 from  
          Hillsborough Drive to Stage Road in the City of La Mirada.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor State Highway Account costs to Caltrans to make and erect  
          appropriate signs; these costs are fully covered by donations.

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose  . This measure honors Detective Sawyer, a 10-year veteran  
          of the Los Angeles Police Department, who was shot and killed in  
          the line of duty on November 6, 1973.
