           SUBJECT  :    California Agriculture Day

           DIGEST  :    This resolution recognizes the week of March 17,  
          2013, to March 23, 2013, inclusive, as National Agriculture  
          Week, and designates March 20, 2013, as California Agriculture  
          Day.

           Senate Floor Amendments of 4/25/13  clarify language regarding  
          the status of California as the leading agricultural producing  
          state in the nation, and revise co-authorship.

           ANALYSIS  :    This resolution makes the following legislative  
          findings:  

          1.For more than 60 consecutive years, California has been the  
            number one agricultural producing state in the nation,  
            encompassing more than 400 crop and livestock products and  
            accounting for 50% of the nation's supply of fruits,  
            vegetables, and nuts.

          2.California is the nation's leader in agricultural exports,  
            shipping more than $16 billion worth of food and agricultural

            commodities around the world.

          3.The 2013 theme of California Agriculture Day is "The  
            California Advantage" to discover all of the advantages that  
            make California's agriculture the most productive in the  
            nation with the efforts of millions of farmworkers  
            contributing greatly to the success of the agriculture  
            industry.

          4.March 20, 2013, is designated as California Agriculture Day, a  
            day of celebration to commemorate agriculture's importance in  
            our daily lives, its vital role in keeping Californians  
            nourished, and its role in keeping the state's economy ranked  
            as the ninth largest in the world.

          This resolution recognizes the week of March 17, 2013, to March  
          23, 2013, inclusive, as National Agriculture Week, and  
          designates March 20, 2013, as California Agriculture Day.
