AB 72, Holden. Municipal water district: board of directors.
The Municipal Water District Law of 1911 provides for the formation of a municipal water district and the election of a board of directors of a municipal water district. Existing law requires directors, except directors elected at the district formation election, to take office on the first Monday after January 1 succeeding their election.
This bill would instead require the directors of a municipal water district, except directors elected at a district formation election, to take office on the first Friday in December succeeding their election.
The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 71253 of the Water Code is amended to read:
Except for the directors elected at a formation election, directors elected to office shall take office at noon on the first Friday in December succeeding their election.
